Dr. Ashkaan K. Fahimipour
Thursday, Sep 01, 2022Dr. Ashkaan K. Fahimipour is our new Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the Davie campus. He received his Ecology Ph.D. at the University of California in 2015 and his Bachelors of Sciences in Botany with a minor in Wildlife Ecology at the University of Florida in 2010.
Dr. Fahimipour is a community ecologist with an extensive research curriculum with an interest in Ecological interaction networks and complexity and Mathematical and computational modeling of ecological communities. Fahimipour is a fellow researcher and scholar who has written published works as well as contributed to other authors' works. He describes his research as interdisciplinary and he works in a range of different habitats.
He has contributed and been invited to conferences and seminars across several universities in different states, the latest being a seminar on the topic of Complex interactions in ecological networks at the University of Groningen in 2022. Dr Fahimipour is primarily interested in "uncovering the organizational principles linking ecosystems across scales: from individuals’ traits, to the behaviors of groups, dynamics of interactions, the structure of ecological networks, and the emergence of macroscopic spatial patterns".
Not only has he published written work but his research has been covered by media such as "Grandma Was Right : Sunshine Helps Kill Germs Indoors" by NPR and "Ecological networks" by RadioBio. Dr. Fahimipour’s passion for ecology has reached multiple universities across the United States and now FAU has the honor of having him within our Owl family.
