Sunday, May 01, 2022Angel Rassi is our new Office Assistant for the Davie campus and the friendly face that greets callers and visitor from the information desk in the One Stop center. He is a recent FAU alum having graduated with his bachelors in December 2021. He knows his way around the Davie campus having taken most of his classes here.
Rassi bachelor’s degree is in Multimedia Journalism from the School of Communication& Multimedia Studies, in December 2021. "I chose to major in multimedia journalism because my long-term goals are to become a sports broadcaster or a sportswriter covering baseball and basketball," said Rassi, who knows that landing his first job in sports journalism is a challenge that all recent graduates face. During his years at FAU, Rassi said that his favorite experience was being a staff writer for the University Press. "It helped in the development of my writing and journalism skills along with making new friends," he said. The experience led to Rassi becoming a freelance writer for the website Mavs Fans for Life (http://mavsfansforlife.com/) where he covers the Dallas Mavericks who, along with the Miami Heat, are his favorite basketball teams.
As a student, Rassi also worked on audio production and stories for FAU’S South Florida Journal podcast, a weekly review of South Florida news. The program is produced by Dr. Kevin Petrich’s RTV Broadcast Journalism and RTY 4304 Advanced Broadcast Journalism students for nine weeks each Spring and Fall.
Rassi, a bilingual, Cuban- American who was born in Miami and now lives in Plantation, enjoys his free time watching and playing basketball and baseball, writing and listening to music. "My favorite baseball team is the Miami Marlins," he said.
