College of Engineering & Computer Science Honors 4.0 GPA Students – Spring/Summer 2024
Monday, Sep 23, 2024On Tuesday, September 17th, the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Florida Atlantic University held a special event to honor graduate and undergraduate students who achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the Spring 2024 or Summer 2024 semesters. To qualify, students were required to have been enrolled in a full course load and achieved the desired grade point average. A total of 110 undergraduate students and 246 graduate students with a perfect 4.0 GPA were invited to the ceremony. The strength of these numbers highlights the deep talent pool of students trained in cutting edge technologies such as generative AI, data science, AI/ML, software engineering, cybersecurity, autonomous systems, and computer vision.
In addition to receiving certificates, the honorees were awarded a year-long membership to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), providing them with invaluable resources for professional growth, networking, and access to cutting-edge research in their fields.
College of Engineering and Computer Science Dean, Stella Batalama, Ph.D., and Chair of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Hari Kalva, Ph.D. addressed the audience, offering words of congratulations and encouragement. They emphasized the significance of this achievement and how it reflects both the students' dedication and the college’s commitment to academic excellence. They also highlighted the importance of the IEEE membership, noting how it serves as a gateway to future opportunities and career advancement in engineering and technology fields.
IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization that plays critical role in advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE membership is an essential tool for engineering and computer science students, as it provides them with industry insights, networking opportunities, and professional growth resources. Membership in IEEE not only helps students stay ahead in their fields but also builds a strong foundation for their future careers. Additionally, it lays the foundation for students in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Florida Atlantic to begin to grow membership in this organization, creating an active community of members collaborating, both locally and beyond Florida Atlantic.
The event was a celebration of academic excellence and a recognition of the hard work that these students have invested in their studies, setting them on a path to success in their careers.
