Master of Fine Arts in Visual Art
The Department of Visual Arts and Art History offers a Master of Fine Arts with concentrations in Studio Art and Graphic Design. The MFA brings together students from different backgrounds to expand their research and creative practices in art and design. Housed in FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, we encourage students to connect meaningfully with other academic disciplines and research initiatives, including the Center for Peace, Justice, and Human Rights and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies.
During the three-year (60-credit) program, students take a combination of graduate design studios, seminars, art history courses, electives, and directed independent study projects, culminating in a graduate thesis exhibition and thesis document. The Department admits full-time and part-time graduate students to start in the fall of each year.
