Tuition Costs

Tuition costs vary year to year. For current information about the tuition costs visit this page. The tuition breakdown shows the cost per credit hour for grad resident and non-resident students. To calculate a semester's cost of tuition and fees, multiply the total by the number of credits.  

A full-time degree-seeking graduate student must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters. A half-time graduate student must be enrolled in at least 5 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters. 

 

Graduate Assistantships and Scholarships

The Department of Visual Arts and Art History offers Graduate Teaching Assistantships on a competitive basis to full-time graduate students. These provide students with financial assistance in the form of a tuition waiver and stipend. Students with a GTA position are entitled to a tuition waiver but are still responsible for student fees. Students receiving GTAs are assigned 20 hours of related work that can include assisting in teaching undergraduate courses, creating design work for the department, assisting with department needs, or monitoring labs. Fellowships and Awards

A number of scholarship opportunities exist in the Department of Visual Arts and Art History. These are shared with students throughout the semester and provide students with financial assistance towards educational expenses. Some of these include the Esther Saylor Rothenberger Scholarship, the Friedland Project Grants, and the Women in the Visual Arts Scholarship.

Other available awards include the Dean's Fellowship and the Graduate College Dean's Fellowship. More information about fellowships and awards can be found on the Graduate College website.
